El Salvador
Each year, PBA nursing students have the opportunity to participate in a mission trip to El Salvador over spring break. During the week-long trip, students and faculty leaders deliver health care and spiritual support to the underserved communities in Santa Ana, El Salvador, in partnership with King’s Castle Mission. Through this long-standing collaboration, students distribute food, conduct hypertension and glucose screenings, and assist local doctors in providing care to small churches located in the mountain regions.
Jon Lemke is a current nursing student preparing to go on mission to El Salvador for a second time in March 2026. Reflecting on the call to return to El Salvador, Jon said “I felt called to serve on this trip because on my first trip to El Salvador, I felt God speaking through me to reach these people. Seeing the genuine smiles on our patients’ faces, providing comfort to those in need, and being the hands and feet of the Lord encouraged me to make the correct decision and motivated me to go back again.”
PBA alumna, Dr. Dana Klassen DNP ’25, served in a repeated capacity as faculty leader, and Jon Lemke served as student leader. The students were thankful for prayers answered for their health and safety. The people of El Salvador were open and heard the good news of the saving power of the gospel.
